Back in August we reported on residents moving into Ivy and Noble, the two first projects to be completed in Calgary's University District, and now yet another project for the district moves closer to reality. Brookfield Residential recently announced their latest offering, Cappella, and will soon open the project's sales centre, its grand opening scheduled for October 20th.
Designed by Calgary based McKinley Burkart, Capella will be a 142 unit development consisting of 8 buildings. 92 of the units will be situated in a 5-storey apartment style condominium building, while the remaining units will be spread across 7 low-rise, 3- and 4-storey buildings, with no more than 8 units per building. This will mark Brookfield's second foray into the University District having already completed Ivy, into which residents began moving back in August.
The University district is an evolving neighbourhood with multiple projects, and Capella will be in good company. With Truman's Noble and the aforementioned Ivy, already complete, the neighborhood also has a couple more developments on the way, as Truman's Maple and Gracorp's Rhapsody are already under construction. Rhapsody, located two blocks from Capella will feature a Save On Foods Grocery store. On top of those projects, there is Avi Urban's August, and also Groupe Germain's 156 room ALT Hotel. All in all, it's a neighborhood trending in the right direction.
The apartment building will feature one- and two-bedroom floor plans ranging from 540 to over 1000 square feet starting in the upper $200Ks, while the single level units offer two and three bedroom floor plans to choose from, between 1300 to over 2000 square feet. Prices for those units start in the upper $600Ks.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database files and discussion forum, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below
