Calgary's University District has been alive with construction for two years now, but now the neighbourhood is truly coming alive as residents begin to move in. The 200 acre, master planned development on the University of Calgary's West Campus Lands has been in the works for some time, having gone through the various stages of consultation, planning, and construction, prior to its recent completion.

This week, residents began moving into IvyBrookfield Residential's 131 unit project on the north end of the  development, marking an important milestone for the project.

This first wave of move-in's are only the beginning. Before the end of August, residents will also begin taking occupancy of units in Noble, a 136 unit, Truman Homes development adjacent to Ivy. While the two developments continue to take in new residents, two other projects will continue their construction.

Maple, as viewed in the images above and below, also by Truman, is currently under construction and is expected to reach completion by 2020.

Also under construction is Rhapsody, a project that will be similarly transformative for the neighbourhood once complete. The Gracorp Capital funded project is designed to have 288 units, and will boast main floor retail, including a Save On Foods outlet, thereby providing University District residents with its first grocery store. Among the other tenants will be Analog - a highly popular local coffee chain.

No neighborhood is complete without a park or two; the University District will in fact have 11 parks, and one of those parks, The North Common Park, is under construction and set to open in the fall of 2018. The park is situated to the west of Ivy and Noble, and will be ready around the time the first residents move in.
