Executive suites to be specific. They function as a long term stay hotel.
Even now with it not being finished, it has given 5th street underpass a different feel. Combine that with the cycle track on the other side of 5th and it's beginning to feel like a vibrant public space. Thanks for posting the recent pics Surreal! I am starting to get a sense of just how large this project is. It will have a real impact from a distance, but even more will help plug a major gap between the Beltline and Downtown. First new development between 9th Ave and 10th Ave since Palliser South in the late 2000s, and nearly twice the height as that one. The old Canada Post site was redeveloped in the 2000s as well, but doesn't seem as prominent as it replaced an existing building.
Really there hasn't been a project this significant in the CPR corridor since Gulf Canada Square in 1979. If the stalled project across 5th Street from the Marriott ever goes plus one block to the north, the Beltline will truly feel connected to the core.
Possibly ever, much of 9 - 11th was a rail-yard / warehouse type development right before switching over to support our car overlord's insatiable appetite for parking. Really cool to see. It'll nice to see this stretch of 10th ave back to normal when all the construction ends. If Place 10 could ever get going again, the two blocks between 6th and 4th would be presentable for the first time in a long time.
YepSo is the second tower a go then?
