One thing I like about this building is that people seem to love it or hate it, and that regardless of what people think of it, it's noticeable. My wife refers to it as the 'Darth Vader building'
Ok...after heavily criticizing it at the start I have really come around to it. I think it looks really good and the bold signage on the top will give it a nice colour pop! The podium really shifted me as well as the window treatment. Looks good!
She's a beut! What a win for EV. I hope the large colorful pixel signage facing the north at the top remains unchanged from the renderings - Excellent needed splash of color for the area.
I took a tour of it this past winter - rooms are small (i.e. size of the pod) but very modern and trendy.
The pods (i.e. modular construction) were manufactured in Poland - meaning by the time they arrived in Calgary everything was completed (including the interiors of the rooms). I'd say the only thing that was missing were the sheets on the beds! At the time non-modular construction (first two floors) wasn't very far along so can't say much about how they will look!
Put me in the category of liking this less and less as it nears completion. It's so dark. The abrupt drop on the north side penthouse from 12 to 10 floors stands out more. The cladding looks flimsy in part to the overall facade being very flat. Perhaps, I'm taking the warehouse inspiration too literal here.
