No permits even for a parking lot? I wonder what's happening there.

There was talk of a proposal on that parcel of land a few years back. Maybe they're flattening it, and will leave it as a gravel lot. Can they do that without a permit?

When I saw them working it looked like soil sampling more than anything

That's good news, definitely better than if they were flattening the land. Soil sampling often means there's something in the works.

I think there might have been a permit for a gas station/convenience store for that parcel in the not so distant past. Which would obviously be unfortunate given there's already two gas stations at that intersection.

A new DP along Bowness Road Mainstreet in Montgomery:
No renderings that I can find, but FAAS is the architect. Going in at this corner, so hopefully able to deal with the retaining wall to create a better interface with the proposed Live/Work units:

Figures that all the O&G money would be plowed into constructing a massively overbuilt network of elevated expressways all over downtown (seemingly empty of cars because there's zero demand for them).

Just an FYI, but I believe the Arts Commons Request for Proposal from Prime Consultants was supposed to be released today.

JEMM is no longer pursuing this project. The land use was supposed to go to Council today, but the applicant requested the bylaw be filed and abandoned, as they are no longer actively pursuing this project. No reason given that I heard.

Great to see the extra density but not the best use for such a prime location. Midrises and towers overlooking the river would've been much better, even if weak demand would've resulted in phased buildouts. It's rare to get the chance to develop on a large empty space in the middle of the City.
