Office Space Conversion

Somewhat off topic. What do you all think should happen with the Hudson Bay building considering its floor plate size and with the new HBC announcement?

Ultimately I'd love to see it made into a residential loft, with the outside untouched, expect maybe a bit a of a cleaning freshen up. Maybe an atrium in the centre with some units onto the atrium.
They could definitely play into the history behind Hudson's Bay to create a unique sort of branding for a residential conversion.

While at it, perhaps replace the +15/+30 to the Core with the new elevated Green Line station with concourse at +15 level to connect both the Core and Scotia Centre. Scotia Centre level 3 is already quite dead.

Definitely some opportunity for some synergies between the pedestrian bridges and the green line and now that they're down a major tenant on the east side of that connection you can use that downtime to pivot.

I know I've always been a bit of a Calgary booster on these forums, though my outlook has tempered the last couple years with some stupid choices the city has made. But honestly, it is seriously astounding to think how much this city has "grown up" since I moved here. On May 1 it will have been 13 years since I got here. Back then it was a regional centre without much going on, and now it's becoming a full fledged metropolis... downtown keeps getting busier, no longer a 9 - 5 ghost town, other cities looking to us as an example of downtown revitalization would have been unthinkable a decade ago... I could go on and on. All that is to say, I'm very proud of this place.
