Weve come a long way when you consider it replaced the Corral.
Is it something with Calgary that we seem to demolish all the old arenas? Corral, gone, Saddledome, soon to be gone. Saddledome has the roof issue but Maple Leafs Gardens was redeveloped into a grocery store + recreation centre, and Pacific Colliseum in Vancouver is now home to the PWHL team.

I think Scotia Place has unique enough of a design to become an iconic part of the city skyline to people.

How many other cities have a flame LED around the exterior of their arena…

I love the saddledome and I’ve soaked in every moment I’ve been given in the building now that I work there, but it’s time has passed. Time to make the new arena as iconic as the old one.

I was scrolling through Facebook and saw this photo. I didn't take the picture, but I thought it was cool!

Also a big fan of exterior...but i'm going to disappoint you slightly when I say there's no LED flames, simply red/yellow uplighting. So daytime, pretty static....will look great at night though.

I've thought more about this, you're right that it is more unique than I was giving it credit for. The buildings crown could look quite cool if done well, at night and during the day. I also have to remind myself about the landscaping on the north and south side of the building too, that will be really nice to have when contrasting it with other new arenas like Little Ceasars and Rogers Place.

If you want unique stadiums though, leave it to Birmingham City.

That's definitely unique, but I don't like it at all!

The experience from the Saddledome to the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, its cool in the moment but not worth it long term. Expensive maintenance and unable to reuse it for other purposes at the end of life.

Curious to see how things fair in Montreal with the new roof. They've missed out on the World Cup but should be able to capitalize on the MLS's changing schedule and I cannot wait for Montreal to host a Grey Cup.
The roof will certainly help...but that's maybe half the issue. Hopefully they go the route of Rogers Centre and commit to a layout (soccer/football), because the multipurpose nature of it makes for ungodly sightlines and a poor fan experience. Not to mention, a complete renovation of nearly everything is required (seats/concourses/suites)

Olympic Stadium will continue to be a white elephant money pit far into the future. Too expensive to demolish, too big for CFL and MLS, and unsuitable for MLB without a very expensive renovation to practically every corner of the interior.
