They should raise the roads a bit, but there's less risk now that the Springbank dry dam is under construction.
I disagree somewhat...the hotel site alone would be a strong activation, likely to involve retail/hospitality podium...then there's 2 sites to the south the stampede has stated can be developed , one with the staging for Scotia Place, the other where the current commissary is (directly across from stampede HQ). The land is there on 2 sides of Scotia Place for some significant development (3 if you include stampede HQ/saddledome)....it's very much now on the private sector to bring it to lifeI guess it is nice to have some new streetscaping but the promise of Stampede Trail I worry will be a let down. It will be hard in the one block between BMO and the hotel site to do anything exciting. Scotia Place does have some decent things on its side of the street but I struggle to envision Stampede Trail as a landmark of any kind. They have three out of the four corners of Stampede Trail and 14th Ave to do something, give me 1 Street SW at 13 Ave and I'll be fine. I actually do hope to be surprised this is the Culture and Entertainment District after all but I don't expect to be.
Is that land private sector or is it Stampede? Maybe it is CSEC? I forget.on the private sector
Well the small parcel on the NE Scotia corner is CSEC....everything else, even if it's presently owned by Stampede, will require private sector investment. Stampede and CMLC aren't developers in and of themselves. Is that land private sector or is it Stampede? Maybe it is CSEC? I forget.
Luckily, the most consuming elements $$ wise...steel, aluminum, drywall...are likely already Canadian sourced. It's the "unique" elements like seating, LED (depending which company, daktronics is USA), kitchen/concession equipment.Doubt they will be able to avoid American materials completely, but good to hear they are looking at it!
They started the design/scope in late 2023, would anticipate construction starting sometime this year? Likely only a 12-14 month process once they dig dirt, but no real rush to have it completed IMO. Until Scotia is complete, not exactly a rush to get it done, it's sort of a "bridge" to nowhere presentlyAny idea when the 6th ave SE underpass is going to get underway?
