Library usage is not declining. They're more popular among younger generations as well. They have and have always been gathering places more than places to conduct research

Lots of ceiling wood installed. I noticed there is not lighting on the ceiling, and was wondering if this would be too dark, but if they have good up-lighting on the floor it could look very good in the end.

East Village is looking good. Imagine how this view will look when Verve, ALT, The Hat and Ink are finished.

Here are a few more pics of the Library.

Think this would have been great to have a green roof, especially when looking at the area available and site lines from surrounding buildings. I looked at the renderings on page 1 and doesn't look like it. Missed opportunity in my mind

Could they put in a green roof after the fact?

After the fact? Depends... usually not, with snow loading and all on top of the green roof materials. Also, a problem in Calgary's climate is that our green roofs don't stay green very much. Sure, they insulate a lot, but other benefits? Not so much, excepts for chasing a leed cert.

I've always thought Calgary should transplant some alpine flowers and shrubs from the mountains to office tower roofs. Those plants grow great at elevation with almost no soil, extreme winds, and they are (fairly) local.
