This project has been progressing shockingly fast.
This and Ventus over on 17th. both are moving quickly. Heck even 6th and 10th is moving along quickly now. Could it be the downturn in the economy has created more availability of labor and services?

I would like to see Minto get built for a couple of reasons. It's a nice little project, but it also raises the bar a bit in terms of scale being at 11 floors.

The Minto proposal isn't shown as 11 storeys high, but rather 9 (at 26 m). But I agree, it's a nice-looking project. The re-zoning plan for Minto Kensington was approved by City Council about a week ago. From the minutes:

8.37
LAND USE AMENDMENT, SUNNYSIDE (WARD 7), WEST SIDE OF 9A STREET NW AND SOUTH OF 3 AVENUE NW, BYLAW 186D2016, CPC2016-185

NOTE: This item was dealt with immediately following item 8.18, Report CPC2016-184.

The public hearing was called, and the following persons addressed Council with respect to Bylaw 186D2016:
1.Brian Horton
2.Laura Ethier

ADOPT, Moved by Councillor Farrell, Seconded by Councillor Woolley, that the Calgary Planning Commission Recommendations contained in Report CPC2016-185 be adopted, as follows:

That Council:
1.ADOPT the proposed redesignation of 0.17 hectares ± (0.42 acres ±) located at 321, 323, 325, 327, 329 and 331 – 9A Street NW (Plan 2448O, Block 2, Lots 25 to 30) from Multi-Residential – Contextual Medium Profile (M-C2) District to DC Direct Control District to accommodate multi-residential development with density bonus, in accordance with Administration’s recommendation; and

2.Give three readings to the proposed Bylaw 186D2016.

Thanks for posting apo383! I'm happy to see some more upzoning for Sunnyside. It's such a great location for medium density projects like the Minto one, and has been underutilized as a neighborhood.

These guys have moved quickly on this. It seems like only 6 months ago they started excavation. Does anyone remember when they started excavation?

Yeah I totally agree. I've been surprised by the speed of this one all the way along. Using the pictures in this thread as a timeline. It looks like Feb-Mar was the start of excavation in earnest. So yeah, they're about 6-7 months in and now above grade.
