Why not widen it a little? Is 16th Ave really serving much of a purpose here? My fear is they go to redo this park and give it the Olympic Plaza treatment and cut down all the trees.

Yeah definitely agree with all above. I should have clarified, Tomkins Park is impressive in that 40 to 45m width because it includes an awesome park, and manages to squeeze in two roads. I agree with all comments on 16th Avenue. I am not convinced it needs to exist at all, but if it does it doesn't need as much parking space nor does it have to be a traditional street. Easily can take a parking lane or more.

Combine that with a redesign of the park access and curb structures, you'd end up with something like this near Berczy Park in downtown Toronto should work, just a curbless lane with minimal width to allow seamless park-to-business transitions.

Have we done any curbless streets in Calgary?

Bridgeland has a little mini-version of Tomkins Park with a side road (General Ave). It's another one that already works nicely, but would probably benefit from making it fully car-free and opening it up to patio uses.

These type of little piazza's/side streets are great. Need more of em!

The raised intersection at 16 Avenue S.W. acknowledges the vibrant retail environment and enhances the pedestrian experience at 16 and 17 Avenue S.W. Future opportunities to extend the raised intersection throughout the length of16 Avenue S.W. will provide an improved public realm that knits the success of the retail and park to become a special place in the Beltline.
