Considering how the previous most recent conversions, Cornerstone and Hat Eau Claire, turned out, I still think this looks really good. Especially considering one of those is another Cidex project.

I was thinking the same thing. If they went down to 6 storeys, but with architecture similar to that brick portion from the original design, I think most of us would be fine with this. As is, the choice of colours and materials just isn't working for me for such an important intersection. See...

I really like seeing these 6 storey buildings on smaller sites, they look a lot better than the big ones like Sentinel IMO.

It shows just how much construction time not having a multi level parkade saves. Nest started around the same time as Sovereign, Francesca's and Truman's 3 towers, and none of those are even at grade yet.

It'll inflate, but never anywhere near Toronto and Vancouver levels. Those cities have a variety of pressures, most particularly a lack of available land that drives up costs, which Calgary does not have and will not have anytime soon.

Re: a Stampede hotel, I wonder if Truman beat them to the punch and they don't feel there's enough market in the vicinity to have both projects go ahead? Plus, $80 million doesn't go far these days, so I would imagine this would be more Econolodge than Marriott...

Fantastic news that this is back on the radar. This part of Beltline feels like a no-mans land right now. With Lincoln and Beltline Block getting underway in the vicinity as well, these developments ought to really liven up the area and hopefully trigger further development.

Out of the 4 big airports, which has the most transborder traffic after Toronto which I assume is #1? I know Calgary is a hub for lots of flights into the US but not sure how it compares to Van or Montreal?
