Calgary's Kensington area has been a busy place with several new developments of the past few years, and it may get busier as a new proposal has been in the works for the inner city area. The Ocgrow Group of Companies applied for a land use re-designation in 2019 with the intentions of building an 8 storey mixed use project along the 14th st NW corridor.

The application went through a series of community engagement sessions and the usual city application processes  with the zoning change ultimately being approved by the city. Now Ocgrow has released their sales and marketing website for Sola, the project's new moniker.

At the moment Sola is in early stages and there hasn't been a development permit submission yet, but we do know the intended size of the project is 8 floors, with 168 residential units, and retail space at grade. During the land use application process Ocgrow also showed plans for a rooftop amenities area.

The location for Sola is prominent as it sits on the doorstep of Calgary's Kensington retail and entertainment district, and is a short walk to the Bow River pathway system, and walking distance to downtown. It's also situated close to Riley Park, SAIT, Southern Jubilee Auditorium and North Hill Mall.

There will no doubt be more to come with the project, particularly when the development permit is submitted with more detailed plans. As always SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues.
