About six weeks ago we checked in on AVLI on Atlantic as the exterior cladding was in the beginning stages. Since then the exterior work has been slow but steady, until just recently, as the installation of silvery metallic shingles commenced. Recent photos show metallic tile-sized panels being installed on the east wall and the southeast corner of the building.

The metal pieces have a shingled tile appearance that is a similar to the look of the exterior tiles seen on Studio Bell. Designed by Sturgess Architecture, AVLI is very modern, the angular balconies and metal paneled finish is a first for Inglewood, which will provide a definite contrast to the surrounding buildings - many of which are  brick. White composite panels, and glass balcony panels make up the rest of the exterior materials.

The 64-unit, mixed-use project, will feature retail along 9th Ave, which is sure to be a fine addition to the neighborhood, especially considering the structure is replacing a former auto body shop. The second floor terraces will have trees and shrubs, with some of which have already arrived.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
