Just a few weeks since our last update, and the Curtis Block has received a major new addition in the form of a giant red crane. The recently installed appendage has added a dramatic new element to the build site, the crane's presence a sign of the three-tower development's imminent rise.

Set to rise in two stages, the first phase will include Towers 1 and 2, to be followed by Tower 3 some time in the near future. The full buildout of One Properties' Curtis Block by Arquitectonica and DIALOG will entail 958 units, thereby making room for close to 1,500 residents.

Standing tall against the blue winter sky, the giant red crane cuts a dashing figure upon the downtown cityscape, the high-density, high-rise project to be a transformative development for the space in-between East Village and Beltline. Curtis Block will serve to knit the aforementioned hot spots to downtown, thereby connecting several high population areas to one another.

Curtis Block is located along 12 Ave SE between 1 St SE and Macleod Trail, its sizeable retail frontages to encourage a rise in local pedestrian traffic. While it will still be some time before the arrival of the crane equates to major vertical construction, its presence alone is more than enough capture the imagination of local high-rise enthusiasts.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
