Nearly a year since our last update, and progress at the site of August at University District has moved from planning to action. The excavation site is abuzz with activity, the recent arrival of excavators and drilling rigs ensuring that the 6-storey, 120-unit, August at University District by Avi Urban stays on schedule.

Located in the University District Discovery Centre at 4410 University Ave NW, the mixed-use, mid-rise development will feature five storeys of condo living set above a single level of ground floor retail. Units will range in size from 544 to 958 sq. ft., with a mix of one- and two-bedroom suites.

Viewed in the rendering below, the finished product will be a handsome structure, clad in a mix of brick, spandrel, and glass. Large windows and generous balconies will add to the appeal of these homes, the development as a whole to be a prime address for those looking for a quick commute to campus.

August at University District is part of a massive local redevelopment scheme, one which will see the addition of 7,000 new residential units built over the next few years. These will be joined by 250,000 sq. ft. of retail, and 1.5 million sq. ft. of office space, in addition to 40 acres of green space linked by 12 km of multi-use trails.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
