Nearly a year since our last update, and progress at the site of Strategic Group's Marda has been moving along, the six-storey apartment block now standing roughly a full storey above grade. Located at 34 Ave SW and 20 St SW in South Calgary, the 66-unit Marda will soon be home to up to 100 new residents.

Following a well-documented delay, construction crews resumed work several months ago, the project to represent the first purpose-built rental development in Marda Loop. Set to feature 9,000 square feet of ground floor retail, the NORR Architects-designed building will inject a good deal of urban vibrancy into the 34 Ave SW corridor.

Viewed above back in late July, the site has progressed in fits and starts, the latest resumption of activity bolstering hope that the development will be completed by its 2019 target date.

Renderings reveal a handsome structure, its retail-filled podium base wrapped in warm wood tones. Once complete, Marda will be Strategic's fifth apartment project, with another six in the works across every corner of the city.
