Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Might be something actually happening at the Brewery Site in Inglewood, the land use application has been submitted:


It feels a little like the Distillery District and Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto.
 
It's a massive project. Looks like they plan on getting rid of most of the original sandstone structures. Unfortunate, but I don't think there is alot that can be done to salvage given their state. It will be nice to see what they do with the courtyard. There is some neat history that has been hidden away for a long time

2. Fish Hatchery Wall (courtyard entrance feature)
3. Engine Room Building
4. Boiler Building & Smokestack
5. Grain Silos (relocated)
6. Administration Building

A neat design exercise is on Gravity Architecture's website, for what looks like the parcels of 932-936 3rd Ave NW, right next to the Sunnyside C-Train station. Not sure if it is "real", based on the description on the website, but it would be nice to see:

Just pointing out how the City owns multiple key parcels in Kensington, that seem to sit as empty/underdeveloped lots. Was wondering if they own these houses on 3rd Ave, with the design vision, based on your comment that the owner "dreams big" but they ultimately sit empty. Re-looking at my post, I can see how that was not clear.

As someone working on many condo projects, this is absolutely happening right now. The bulk of our for-sale product is getting snatched up by people from Ontario and they will basically pay whatever as everything seems affordable to them compared to the GTA. Most of the sales are presumably for investment but i'm curious to see how many end up moving here and occupying the units, it is hard to tell right now.
