Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

Maybe this was common knowledge but news to me.

"The city’s partnership with the free mobile smartphone app, Waze, means Calgarians can receive travel updates the minute traffic or construction is reported.

Different from Apple or Google Maps, Waze connects directly to the TMC, making information about present or future closures, detours, or emergency incidents more reliable. "

What's the deal with this oval road? Historical images shows it was built between 2020-21...I can't really figure why it's an oval like that?

Have there been any timelines posted for completing the outstanding Glenmore interchanges west of Stoney?

It'd be nice to have those done by the time SE LRT is complete.

Are you talking about Barlow and 52nd? They both have dirt piles just waiting for construction. Barlow is terrible. They went from 1 set of lights to 2. How was that ever approved? I take the Shepard Road shortcut to avoid it.

Yeah, seems like those were supposed to get completed about a decade back? Guessing that SW Stoney took all the road building resources for a while, but now that Stoney is complete the final Glenmore interchanges seem like quick easy wins to do along with ph1 GL before NC LRT and the other rail projects in the north take the focus.

You're right, how did they not tie this into the Green Line a leverage it to widen the scope even further? These fools!
Haha, not suggesting those be scoped into the GL project itself, just that it seems like an opportune time to do them as part of regular budgeted roadworks while the area is in flux anyways.

I believe the needed interchange work for GL LRT was done on Ogden rd Interchange work. Doesn’t really have anything to do with Barlow or 52st
I know, I was making a joke about the large scope that has encompassed the Green Line. Removing land fills, an interchange, a underpass, at least one park, new utilities downtown, isn't there a MAX bus on Centre Street also tied into it? All without starting the actual Green Line.
