Thing with this is you can do some traffic calming on Richmond Road to make it physically impossible for people to drive more than 40km/h. It has to be mentioned that this will take a long time to get to full build out so the change is traffic will be over a very long timeline.
I'm not talking about speed so much as traffic backing up waiting for people to turn on to 26 Ave, or on to 29 St.

Usually developments like this are on higher-volume, or at least better-connected roads. This one looks on the surface like it is at the intersection of two major roads, but from a vehicle perspective, it's actually not.

Ultimately I'm sure they will add lights on 26 Ave and on 29 St, or something similar.

I think they've already talked about intersection upgrades.

Always nice to hear from all those opposed speaking about the safety of pedestrians and cyclists with "increased traffic", when 99% of the time they could not give an actual shit about them. Just another thing to throw at the wall and hope sticks.

Not too mention that every opposed group now brings up water pipes potentially breaking since last years mainline break...

There would be some overlap between the crew opposed to this development on grounds of traffic safety and those approved to safety improvements on 26th Avenue SW in the next couple years.

..and those opposed due to kids having to cross streets to go to school, waste created by dogs and climate change

The general public shouldn’t be involved in these things. They just don’t have a clue and drown out those few that do.

There is a design solution to their issues too. Fight for the design solution to your roads issue. The Ven diagram of people fighting to keep this development from being approved because of 'traffic, and people who would fight traffic calming because of 'traffic' is a circle.

I doubt traffic will be any worse than when it was a school and busses were lined up to pick up kids.
I went there to upgrade some high school courses about 20 years ago and it was a gong show in the morning and afternoon. Probably didn't help all the students were adults from all over Calgary so most drove their own vehicle to/from. Probably worse than when it was just a regular school for the neighbourhood. I bet the residents were happy when it closed completely and got used to how quiet it was after the closure, now they want to keep it that way.

Minto didn't waste any time! First DP is already in...Ph 1 is the SE corner of the site, and seems to more or less be what we would expect massing-wise based on the context plan MichaelS posted on Feb 27. Project being branded as "Parkline Phase 1" and architect is Zeidler.

I needed to go back and remind myself so just for anyone else: This is what was posted then. This DP is site 2 in the first image and almost exactly what was depicted in the SE corner in the massing images. Should be largely forgettable, and it is in design terms, when considering how much more there is to build.
