I know this drives a much higher cost, but some of the worst sleeps of my life were in a wood frame condo. I'll applaud this development on this alone, haha.Another interesting thing he mentioned was that all of the condo buildings would be concrete construction. No wood frame outside of the single-family and townhomes.
Lots of people especially boomers think Downtown is dangerous just read Facebook comments. Yes they think Kensington, Capitol Hill, Mission is all downtown and its just filled with dangerous homeless, drug addicts and loud. Maybe its the time they grew up in, but I know plenty that rarely ever go to downtown because that is what they think. Maybe they wont mind this since its far away in a "safe" area and it is walkable and somewhat urbanWhile I do like some variety, it is interesting there's so many developers trying to advertise walkable, urban living, in these far suburbs, where you will most likely still be driving your car daily. While we already have urban/walkable communities located in our cities today. A townhouse in Kensington or Capitol Hill is probably similar to what these will cost. I'm curious what people see as the appeal.
It's probably a lot of misinformation and reading comments online you'd think Central Memorial Park is like Kowloon city 2.0. If the buildout matches these renders then it might be "somewhat" urban, but in reality, it's going to get value engineered down, they'll add more parking to every street, and the schools/public amenities will show up in 20 years.Lots of people especially boomers think Downtown is dangerous just read Facebook comments.
