General Construction Updates

Anyone know who owns the SoBow site? Surprised they only built 2 buildings there, great site for a lot of additional housing.
It's owned by a subsidiary of Matco, which explains why nothing is happening there. For those not in the know, Matco owns (or owned, not sure if they still do) the vacant land by Westbrook station that has seen no action in over a decade.

Guess it will stay as a dirt lot for the foreseeable future, lame!

The City bought the Westbrook land back from Matco in April, so that's good news at least.
Well, it's better news. But as we've seen with Midfield and everything else The City gets involved in, they might be better than Matco at getting shit done but they are still irritatingly slow. I'm still betting 5 years or more before anything happens on those lands, although I'd love to be wrong.

Companies like Matco make me sick. What the hell is their purpose if they never develop anything?
They're a pension fund, and like most pension funds they are extremely risk averse. I get why they are that way but its terrible for city building, and I hope The City will never again engage in a development partnership with one.

The City will likely sell the land to another developer, doubt they will sit on it. With Truman building directly to the east of this, I could see them try to get a site or two.

SoBo is near but so far. It's drivable than walkable. I wouldn't call it great for multi-family densification.
Oh, well I guess it should stay as an undeveloped dirt lot then.

Agreed, but even for The City to sell the land will probably be a lot longer and more drawn out than it should be, which is why I still think it'll take a long time for stuff to get underway.

New addition to Elizabeth Square. You can see the care they put into the finishing touches. I'll take 100 of these over any high rise.

In more Elizabeth Square news, D.O.P. is going into the basement of the building on the NE corner. Just walked by and saw their sign through the window.

This means I have no clue where Bella's Italiana will be. I assume it's more than just the small patio out front.
