A slew of Eau Claire Plaza photos. Didn’t realize it had a big grass area. Looks like they are installing some sort of serious drainage, so still hoping for a water feature/park and an urban beach

Also the old mill building is getting a sizeable addition. Was hoping it was restaurant space, but most likely storage for parks stuff.

I would definitely be curious to hear the design thinking behind that one. The only thing I can come up with is it's a connection to the lumber yard Peter Prince ran in Eau Claire. Either that, or Timbertown greased a few palms at City Hall...

Looking at the city website renderings (https://www.calgary.ca/planning/projects/eau-claire-plaza.html) it does seem like some will support a canopy (you can see it in the last photo above). But the ones on the south end just appear to be there for no functional reason.

The addition to the Eau Claire Lumber building are public washrooms to replace the old ones that used to be located at the splash park that was there previously. I was hoping the building would have been relocated to be a little closer to the lagoon so that any patio would have a nice view of the water but that doesn't seem to be the case.

That’s a shame that the building couldn’t be positioned better!

Well, given that they're at the south end, they will provide some pathetic little sliver of shade.

Looks like the washrooms are to be located where we all hoped the Lumber Building was going to be relocated. Maybe the expansion is for something to do with the restaurant then.

Also, the wood pillars do appear to support glass awnings.

The Riddell Kurczaba building at 1st and 11th is fenced off with a tent around the open air covered parking. Maybe movement on that tower too. Can’t find the thread though…

DP still listed as under review. They must have confidence of approval if they are fencing things off. Don't see anything for a demolition permit though...

would be great if the script was flipped and some prime lots became coveted for development suddenly. the lots between 4th and 1st street on 10th avenue for example.
