The few times I've used West District Retail it has felt like I'm on a stretch of Macleod Trail. It's like an archipelago of archipelagos. For me, I prefer the more traditional strip mall design like Strathcona Square or Sunterra West Market or even Glenmore Landing (each could be dramatically improved with a few simple tweaks, and obviously better residential integration) compared to this island hopping design.

its the old KFC lot, they filled in the parking with what looks like 3 CRU's and connected them to the existing building

Not sure what's going in there, but it's going to be 100 times better than the KFC.

No, when development is slated, developers are required to provide tree protection fencing and also detail this on the application drawings.
