To be clear, that is not West District. West District is a couple of neighbourhoods north of here in West Springs, between Bow Trail and Old Banff Coach Road (with West District being in the north part of that). This is in Springbank Hill, south of 17th Avenue SW.

It's actually pretty crazy how much is going on there, it'll be interesting to see how well all those developments tie together. I find SW neighborhoods already feel very piece meal, so hopefully they've put some thought into how to connect and integrate all these developments together.

On the whole though, pretty happy to see more dense and mixed use development in the suburbs.

It might actually make sense to extend the blue line once all this is complete.

Oops hadn’t noticed this is a totally different area. The whole upper west area is booming!

Yes, Aspen Woods station @ 85th st, but as of yet no funding or timeline on it

It is the lowest ranked project of maybe 50 contemplated transit capital projects.

The plan is that this development will eventually have an underground station just west of aspen landing. The south strip of land of 17th Ave is basically kept aside for future development but like @whatchyyc said there is currently no funding.

One day maybe in our life time... we will be able to take the train from aspen woods station straight to the airport

An LRT extension to 85th Street is maybe the only suburb LRT expansion I would fully support. Density like that needs to be rewarded. Also it's not too far from the core in comparison to something like Seton (In terms of Km).

There is some massive density in the NE in communities like cityscape and Skyview ranch, around the future 60th Street and CHB station, as well as the next one along 128th Ave in redstone.

Going south on the redline, Silverton and Belmont will have some good density as well for that future extension.

West of 69th is being built on old (1980s) approvals with less density than communities built now.

The plan is also for a community scale station no really close to the density, with most of the buses continuing to feed 69th.

It is unfortunate but as planned the project sucks.

Eventually maybe a study can be initiated to have the line turn north on 85th instead and serve a couple stations. That may turn out to be useful.

Yeah I think if the blue line went north on 85th up to west district that would actually serve the SW pretty well. As is, 69th Street is actually pretty disconnected from the majority the population in SW Calgary

I know it's incremental, but I'm really happy to see some density going into a suburban area. If even half of our burbs looked like that, our housing affordability, sprawl, and vibrancy would be astoundingly better.

If you think that is dense … go drive around Saddletowne Circle. That neighbourhood is Calgary’s only success in a new build ‘15 minute’ city. Maybe a few are upcoming, but head to the NE and see the future.

I pray to god it’s not the future. If you ask me Saddletown Circle is one the worst, if not the worst example of a TOD. It’s surrounded by parking lots and strip malls and encircled by a 4 lane car sewer. On the other side of the four-lane mini freeway is a sea of single-family houses with sound barrier walls. Its a vision from hell IMO.
