General Construction Updates

And every time they do some people still call 911 reporting that the tower is on fire. No fooling, Sun reporter Brian Passifume runs a scanner and hears the calls almost every time.

Amazing. Simply top notch :')

Here are some construction pics of another project a couple blocks away from the Delaney. I don’t know what project is this.

Next week's planning commission (I haven't done the past few meetings, because quite frankly in my opinion, there was nothing really interesting in them).

Full agenda can be found here:
http://www.calgary.ca/PDA/pd/Docume...ission/agenda/2018/agenda-cpc-february-22.pdf

Item 5.01 (page 99/401): Land use to allow greater intensification of the apartment building site next to Marlborough Station. Minto is looking to add a 6 storey, 146 unit apartment building to the existing Applewood Village complex.

Item 5.02 (page 111/401): New pedstrian bridge in Laycock Park over Nose Creek. Renderings on pages 122/123.

Item 5.03 (page 125/401): Upzoning of the NW corner of Elbow Dr and Southland Dr. Looking for 3.5 FAR and a height of 24m. No DP as of yet, but the intention is to allow for a future, higher intensity, mixed-use development within close proximity to the Southland LRT Station.

Items 5.04 (page 139/401) and 5.05 (page 171/401): Anderson TOD land use (5.04) and outline plan (5.05). Slight adjustments to the 2015 plan that Council sent back, in order to accommodate more park and ride stalls. The outline plan can be found on page 191.

Item 5.06 (page 197/401): Grovesner's 17th Ave and 4th Street, 2 tower DP. Drawings start on page 217.

Item 5.09 (page 379/401): Intensification next to Shaganappi Point LRT, with a land use application for MC-2 on 4 houses. There is a concurrent DP under review, but this is just the land use.

Apologies if it's been discussed, but does anyone know what the final outcome is planned to be in terms of the work they are doing on the North side of the zoo along Memorial and the 12th street NE bridge?

They are adding another lane of traffic. It will be two way traffic to the zoo entrance when completed

Scroll down for the Baines Bridge improvements. Biggest benefactor will be connecting Bridgeland and Inglewood via the zoo both ways, rather than just to the north right now. Bridge will have wider sidewalks for pedestrians and cyclists. Also, a path under the bridge is being built similar to others along the Bow River which will really cut back the pedestrian/cyclist/car conflicts at that location. I'm looking forward to that, as being in Mayland Heights, I will be able to travel directly to Inglewood via the zoo road, rather than going around via Blackfoot or Downtown.

Just a question. With the recent start to the new Cancer Centre and recently to hospital in Seton. What say does the city have in the designs and size of these buildings?

I'm going to love that too. I work up by Mayland heights and go to Inglewood a fair bit, but have to take the long route to get there.
