Or left exposed to weather to a grey. Shakes should really be pre-stained and sealed prior to installation.

Love the massing, hate the cladding. MoDA were apparently going for that 70's look with the shakes.

Massing makes it, but I don’t hate the shakes. Variety is always a plus in my opinion. Will be an interesting block now with Anderson building right across the street.

I'm going to withhold final judgement until all the cladding is on but I agree, the initial application of the shakes is underwhelming

I drove by this yesterday and it is looking really good. My main concern is that all those natural cedar shakes are going to be a maintenance nightmare for the owners down the road...

If they do the building paper under it properly, it shouldn't be much of a concern, that type of wall system actually drains really well. It's the fading and weathering of the shakes I'm curious about, and whether they will start to curl at all.

Just walked by this one and it looks even better in person, really love the contrast between the flat black metal clad windows and the cedar shakes.
