There’s people blaming some form that is supposedly required by the UCP. Not sure how accurate that is, they had to fill out a form for me because I wasn’t on the list, even though I was sure to update my registration before the deadline. I wonder if there was some issue with the elector list from Elections AB. Not meant to be nefarious just maybe an error or timing issue.
Even saying that the form took at most 2 minutes, and the Federal election had a very similar form if you were not in the rolls.

It's completely accurate; it's a hurdle that was added by the UCP for no good reason. (It was added for the bad reason that suppressing votes makes it easier to implement unpopular policies.)

They had to fill out the same form for me, even though I was on the electoral roll, like most people. They literally copied by hand information they already had printed in the book in front of them onto a paper form like we are a bunch of medieval monks trying to preserve Scripture, then I had to read the information they wrote down even though it's my own information, then sign it, then they had to file the paper.

Adding 2 minutes to a 1 minute process turns a 20 minute wait into a 60 minute wait.

Finished my 15 hour shift at Bishop Carroll voting station just before midnight. We're all tired. Our team (9 DROs, 3 IOs and a ballot box officer) managed to count everything in about three hours. I was working as an IO, but oh my god the amount of paperwork the DROs had to do. No wonder why it took forever.

Glad to see a lot of people show up to vote (and even spotted Duane Bratt at one point). Crazy to read it took over 2-3 hours at other places as the longest wait we had was one hour. We were told our target from when you arrive to leaving with an "I Voted" sticker is 20 minutes - but that obviously goes out the window when there's over 100 people in line. It would've been nice if they were able to use the laptops from advance voting a couple weeks ago (I was one of the 40 on-site IT techs the city had brought on for that).

Please bring back the tabulators. I never want to count so many ballots ever again.

When I voted (during advance vote) the people working told me the form had to be filled out for every person who voted for a school trustee as they needed a signed declaration as to if you were voting for public or separate board.

Heard multiple people mention that some poll workers were "encouraging" people to skip a trustee vote to be able to avoid the paperwork.

IIRC you moved here from out of province? This is the first election where I have had to sign any kind of declaration. Just wait til the new licenses with immigration status start appearing. This is all part of the UCP's push to disenfranchise voters.

It looks like this was likely the lowest voter turnout since 2007. Just imagine how much worse it would have been with an extra 100k people out trying to vote.
Thousands would have seen the lines yesterday and just skipped it. Many more would have gotten into line and renegged when they saw how slow it was moving (my wife saw at least 2 people with walkers reneg during her 2 hour saga)

Yes, so it's my first election with Election AB voter rolls, which I was not on the list despite updating my registration before the cut off date. The form had them write my name, address, and check the ballots I'm voting for, which I then signed. I thought this was only because I was not on the list, but seems like everyone had to sign the form?

Yes everyone had to sign those worthless declarations. All performative paperwork to appease the rural MAGA base that believes our elections are rife with voter fraud. Cities couldn't possibly elect non conservative politicians without their being fraud of some kind in their mind.
