Calgary International Airport

There is the MOU with the province, that has a provision that could be interpreted in two ways.

Expires in 2027.

There was a Varcoe article that quoted a local aviation analyst.

'No question about it, the 787 order leaps off the page ... It just opens up more international destinations, quite likely focused on Calgary,' said aviation analyst Rick Erickson

And the chamber VP makes a good point about this being about more than just travellers, it is good for the local industry.

“Having those planes in Calgary gives an opportunity for other businesses to thrive, and there’s all of the secondary supports that are required for WestJet and for those planes,” added Calgary Chamber of Commerce vice-president Ruhee Ismail-Teja.

Sure would be nice to see a fresh order to add to or refresh WestJet's 39 De Havilland Q400s. Coupled with a De Havilland Field Ground Breaking of course.
