I would say the exchange rate is the biggest deterrent right now. But if you can swing it, there are some beautiful places to see and explore in America, I wouldn't let a temporary political situation deny you those life adventures.
TBH, I don’t believe the exchange rate is much of a factor, it’s almost the same as last year around this time.
Every person I know personally is avoiding the US for reasons relating to Trump and the tariffs, etc.
I won’t judge people for going to the US during this these times. Everybody has their own personal reasons for doing things (for example being able to drive by car rather than having to fly, like for Europe or Asia) but I would say that, although there are great things to see in the US, there are also great things to see another countries as well.
I went to Mexico City a couple of months ago and loved it. We are pondering going to Asia for our next trip.
As for the US, I will be back there to experience some of those great things, but I’m content to wait out the 4 years and see other countries instead.

Some friends of mine took a trip to Disney World because their daughter is at the age where it’s still magical to her. If they waited 4 more years, she would be out of that range, so I get why they did it.
For myself, there’s nothing important enough in the United States for me not to wait it out. Anything interesting down there will still be around in four years.
There’s lots of interesting places here in Canada.

As more airlines adopt ground pay I honestly can't see Flair operating for much longer.

Literally the only reason why they can pump the stat that they don't cancel flights is because they'll just delay the flight no matter how long it takes

WestJet announced another new winter destination: Puerto Escondido (PXM).

This brings YYC to 14 total destinations in Mexico, 5th new Mexican destination added in 2025. I wonder if perhaps we could eventually also see MID or even MTY too?

I spent a week in Puerto Escondido just prior to Covid and absolutely loved it. Authentic Mexico compared to most of the other sun destinations. 7 beaches, all of which have very distinct character to them, no mega-resorts and yet still a decent number of Canadian snowbirds around and some fun touristy restaurants and bars as a result of that. Might have to plan another trip now that WJ is flying direct.
