Calgary Flames Official Thread

Not sure how I feel about this one, need to know more about who we got. Kuzy was super streaky, but when he was on the puck was glued to his stick. Pelletier hadn't done much but I liked how his game was coming along. Thought Conny was going for a right handed center lol

Most of the pundits I've read are saying this is a win for the Flames, so we shall see...

It is a win for Conroy, you get the players with the most upside. This price is very reasonable for a top 6 centre. Keeping what first round picks we do have this year was important.

Definitely agree with that. I guess I just see a big upside with Pelletier, surprised we moved on from him. Tortorella is going to hate Kuzmenko, I expect him to sit pretty much the rest of the season.

I'm not there with you on Pelletier. His ceiling is likely Mangipagne, these new guys ceiling is much higher.

Not to mention he was on waivers and without a huge contract. When 31 other teams don't see too much value, tend to agree.

He played with Mitchkov and sounds like that's why they got him. But imagining Torts with two Russians on their top line wouldn't have been what anyone expected.

Pelletier was terrible in training camp, that's why he got waived and unclaimed. His play improved dramatically in the AHL and they brought him back up and he looked better. Pelletier is probably a 40-50 point player at his best, and that seems to be similar to the players we brought in.

Think Frost looked pretty good so far, Farabee as well. See how this goes, both players seem excited to be here.

This weekend would've been all adrenalin for them too. see how they play after the FNF break. That will be the true tell. A compressed schedule before than means not much practice time... Also, how about a welcome to Calgary weather window they're getting. Just missed out on +10 instead they're getting highs of -10 for the foreseeable future.

Will be exciting for them when the Leafs are in town tomorrow, always a bit of a circus atmosphere at those games haha.

Ryan Leslie asked them about the weather in an interview and they laughed about it. Definitely colder than Philly, even at the peak of the "polar vortex" a couple weeks ago lol.

Elliott brought up on 32 thoughts that Conroy went to pick them up with a private jet to bring them to Calgary and how that was viewed quite positively by the other Philly players.

I wonder if Flames fans will boo the US anthem tonight?

Someone mentioned all Canadian fans should just sit very quietly for the US anthem during this whole Trump fiasco, then stand cheer raucously for the Canadian anthem after. I would love to see that!

Bet Kylington gets booed though, at least a little bit.

I really hope Kylington doesn't get booed. Absolutely does not deserve it.

The US Anthem on the other hand... I think they might start booing their own anthem soon. I assume we don't boo the US anthem tonight.

Well, Kylington got a lot of slack from the Flames, then he left to try and land a bigger contract (which he didn't get), so I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few boo birds. Most people are fully aware of his mental health struggles, but feel slighted since the team was nothing but amazing to him while he went through it. Seems like a great guy who shot himself in the foot trying to get a big contract he hadn't earned, now he's riding the bench and has done nothing all season when he would have had a top 4 role here. That's the business side of the game I guess...

I would not blame the player for the bad advise of an agent, to each their own though.
