Calgary Flames Official Thread

Loving how Edmonton is freaking out about McDavid's suspension, shit's entertaining!
The talking heads are all saying that McDavid has to do this to stand up for himself and stop that from happening. But I don't believe that cross check is going stop another player and another player and another player from doing the exact same thing. There are dozens of Garlands in the league and IMO all that McDavid's cross check showed is that what Garland did works and there will be more guys willing to do that to win. It'll be up to an actual enforcer fighting that player to actually get them to think twice (whcih is something the league doesn't want) or the refs to make the call all the time, even in tight games and playoffs.

The Oilers will make sure the league knows they want McDavid protected, and I think the league will listen.

San Jose just claimed Walker Duehr (great name for a bull rider lol) off waivers. Good riddance I say, dude never quite made the step from the AHL to the NHL, gives other guys a shot now.

Think that was Pelletier's best game so far. Wolf saved us in the 2nd and the boys rewarded him. Vancouver is on tilt, might be worth taking a shot at the playoffs now, see how this next stretch goes for us and St Louis and Utah...

Was at game last night, Buffalo is not very good and those are games the Flames have to win if we want to talk about playoffs. They got the job done, thanks again to Wolf

The challenge is getting that top line scorer. They've largely replaced the middle lineup pieces they traded away. A high potential swing like Cozens makes a lot of sense. A full rebuild doesn't really work now because if they bottom out, there's a mismatch in timeline with the talent they have (Wolf, Weegar, Coronato, Zary, etc.). And sometimes it takes years of bottom finishes to hit on draft picks, just ask Detroit.

Flames are definitely a much weaker team without Wolf in net! We need a centre and top 4 D in the trade market if we are going to take as run at the playoffs...

A centre, yes but only at the right price. The D core is just fine. You don't need to spend assets. I assume it might get to the point where Cooley gets a run in the NHL when he's back. The flames even making the playoffs is literally house money. You take that and keep building, don't go all in on a lucky hand.

Having Bahl out of the lineup yesterday was quite noticeable, Miromanov is a turnover machine, Hanley and Bean really aren't good either. Agree about not spending assets, we just don't have depth to cover injuries since we are supposed to be rebuilding.

The flames have some D in the A, they've kept some of the older guys around and worked them in. If they're serious they need to send down one of the lesser guys that have been around all year and bring up one of their higher end kids. There's a waiver risk but if bahl is gone long term than you need to do risk it.
