Calgary Flames Official Thread

Close games but just not a good enough to keep up with good teams for 60 minutes.

That Kadri penalty was a soft call for the referee to make in a close game. Greg Millen made a great point on the broadcast that the referees need to manage the game there. Knights will be a tough test tonight and Utah could want to get another win streak going after playing, and likely beating the sharks tonight. Devils and Oilers after that, this could spin into a 0-6 stretch pretty easily.

Top 10 pick incoming!

I think he became a bit of a punching bag for being so rich but paying so little for the arena. But honestly, that's every sports team in the jurisdiction.

It is weird to me the majority owner of CSEC doesn't live here but then again the teams he owns have been a good investment for him, so as a businessman I'm sure he's not sad to own a majority of CSEC. I Don't see him going anywhere for a long time.

I also think people see much more public facing owners and want to hear more from him but he is very private. You have the money, you make the rules.

Murray Edwards has a bad rep for being cheap and cutting corners wherever he can with all his assets. Not just with CSEC.
Friends who work at CNRL tell me their work space in Bankers Hall is surprisingly cheap and old for a company like that. I Think they are finally going to be moving into a new space soon, something actually fitting for such a wealthy company.

I love what Prime is doing to wake Sportsnet up. They do great work and it is nice to have some competition. I really enjoy their Thursday show where they do whip-round coverage.

Anyone watch the game on Prime last night? curious how the broadcast is...
The announcers are personal preference but the stream quality is much better than SN+. They're supporting HDR and even though the stream is 1080p/60fps, same as SN+, it looks much crisper. The delay is also much better than SN+, probably not an issue for cable for their subscription service is always 1-2mins behind the play and annoying if you have notifications turned on.

Do they broadcast in 4K? been enjoying the UHD for most Flames games so far this year. Never done the 4K vs HDR comparison before...
