I had heard there was supposed to be something in the fall economic statement that would help the project go forward, but, Trump and Freeland got in the way. Alas. It may still come to pass.

Roll some new (and the existing) firefighting planes under the Canadian Forces and all of sudden you're closer to the NATO 2%. I'm sure some other Government of Canada airplanes could use a refresh.. Add them in and maybe call this a defense contract and you're getting closer and closer to the 2%.

Skyalyne is buying 3 New but already built Q400's that Dehaviland had in storage for military training aircraft. But yes, the government should be looking at ways to support Canadian businesses when increasing defence spending.
