Yes of course it does, but having the pavilion in a place that it essentially precludes any future integration of the plazas for events isn't the move. Having a building blocking some of the noise of the train would have been a good move though. Macleod can be changed, eventually, but the train isn't going anywhere.

There is hill on the north edge, that should block noise and the northside will always be hostile because it will now just be a straight sidewalk along ctrain tracks and the back of house for the expansion. The placement of the Pavilion actually puts it at the centre of the Olympic and Municipal Building Plazas. The city and events should explore closing Macleod here temporarily. Weekend and evening traffic can always be turned right on to 9th Ave and then north up 3rd Street SE.

Honestly, even before Olympic Plaza is done the city should be closing Macleod between 9th Ave and 6th Ave and utilizing the Municipal Plaza. Doing that would likely make it pretty easy to lease out that commercial unit they have in the Municipal building. Just because this isn't open until 2028 doesn't mean they should abandon doing things here. You have the space in Muni Plaza, Macleod, and Stephen Ave.

We can't get the UCP to pay for a tunnel for trains, but maybe for those freedom loving trucks!

Didn’t fully realize how massive this site is. Would make for an amazing winter market that spills onto Stephen Ave. Could be a catalyst project (similar to 8 street/residential conversions on the west side of the CBD) if the city figures out what to do with Macleod Trail plus more residential on the western side of East Village - still lots of empty lots there. Stephen Ave makeover is also starting soon potentially - that street is already very active with the activity likely to extend both east and west.
