Great news. The design isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the density around the Chinook Station and mall is a win regardless.
About 10 years ago, The City spent a bunch of money redoing 61st Avenue as a pedestrian promenade. It is done.I took a quick look through the LAP that was approved earlier this year. They have some general guidance for the areas, but for the area adjacent to Chinook Centre and around the LRT station, not much really other than some guides for building heights. Outside of the overall plan, I'd like to see a more detailed plan for 61st Ave, some sort of vision for 61st as a pedestrian promenade, etc..
I never noticed that lol. Either that or I haven't been on 61st ave for a while. I always remember it for being a crop hole.About 10 years ago, The City spent a bunch of money redoing 61st Avenue as a pedestrian promenade. It is done.
True. It'll look better with some development.I remember them redoing it. It’s better than it used to be, but the problem is the promenade fronts mostly parking lots. Once there is some development fronting 61st the promenade will be more noticeable.
It's still a craphole, lol. The convenience store near the train station blasts some weird noise that's like nails on a chalkboard to keep loitering people away. Total hellscape.I never noticed that lol. Either that or I haven't been on 61st ave for a while. I always remember it for being a crop hole.
