Yeah he's saying April 2 now. More time to diversify and sign deals with other parts of the world.
Exactly. I don't care what he does, it's time to diversify trading partners so we aren't in this position again. With all of the votes Trump got, something tells me we haven't seen the last of right wing wing nuts running the U.S.

In a way this is good, the longer he drags this out the longer we have to adjust without feeling the pain of tariffs. It is still very bad in another sense because no one is willing to invest anything in Canada. Saw it from Calgary Economic Development that business is not investing because of the uncertainty. There's also the fact it will take decades to properly diversify. Our governments will need to have a long memory and they cannot forget that tying yourself too close to the US means you have a single point of failure. Like @Surrealplaces says, US nationalism I don't think is disappearing after this President.

One good thing is with Trump announcing 25% tariffs on the EU now, lots of parts of the world are going to be looking to divest away from the US. Hope we can get in on some of that!
Yet, strong talk Trump is still too cowardly to do 25% on China lol. I was hoping he would so we could watch the inevitable meltdown in the US.

We are still going to get to see a meltdown, Musk is guaranteeing that. Hundreds of thousands of federal employees are going to lose their jobs, the safety nets for them are going to disappear and the government is going to be in total crisis. This will be unlike anything we have see in our lifetime I think...

Tariffs are back on at 25% for March 4 now. If he's going to do it, just fucking do it already! This flip flopping is just nuts.

Perhaps there’s others like me that have lots of family (trapped) living down there. That’ll be one reason I voted yes. The other possibility is one of my favourite bands is having an out of the blue reunion tour this year and that will be the only opportunity to see them ever. Otherwise I’d be voting no like the rest of you smart people.

It will get noticeably cheaper to travel there though as tourism demand drops, at least on airfare which will make it tempting, probably by 2027.
Fair enough. If people are going to visit family or it’s some sort of event that they don’t have in Canada, etc. I get it. I should’ve rephrased this question to ‘Are there any people planning to travel to the US simply for vacation?’
If anyone’s going down to the US solely for vacation purposes, I find that very disappointing.

My parents are snow birds... They've locked in for another year in Arizona. My mom has said both countries have their problems so she's too far down the Facebook rabbit hole to come back to reality. I'm not shutting my parents out, this doesn't warrant that. We have an understanding that we disagree and our opinions differ and leave it at that.

What am I saying, this has divided families, mine specifically. People will do what is best for them, all you can do is stay true to yourself.

Can't believe what I saw today, Trump is completely unhinged, JD Vance is a piece of shit and I would have very strong words for anyone wanting to go to the US and support anything they stand for. This is really bad, Trump is starting to look like the total fascist hyperbole made him out to be. His scolding of Zelensky for not kissing his feet changed the world for the worse today. Much worse.

There's nothing hyperbolic about calling him a fascist. It's only now that he has the absolute power (executive, legislative, and judicial) to make the evil dreams of he and his buddies come true. Everything they're doing is textbook fascism.

People forget, it only took the Nazis under 2 months to completely subvert German democracy. These shitstains are on course to make it happen even quicker, the only extra challenge is the American Constitution, but they dont really care about that old thing. The military does care about it, though. The world's only hope is that a group of admirals/generals have the balls to say no to this horror show they're about to unleash.

Hyperbolic, at this point, would be me saying that within the year we'll be seeing the American military opening fire on their own civilians for one manufactured reason or another. Unfortunately, that will only be absurd until it isn't.

I have to admit, as bad as I thought Trump was, I didn't see this coming. I mean, this is starting to feel like an episode of the twilight zone. I wonder if decent Americans in the US feel the Jewish people felt in Germany in 1938? Another thing I didn't see coming was how bad Musk was going to be. I wasn't a big fan of Musk, but I didn't know he was such a fascist. Even when he gave the salute, I thought it might be a mis-guided attempt or misinterpretation or something of the like. After his support for the AFD (in German elections), it's pretty oblivious that he's a fascist. I think he saw himself as the richest man on earth, saw Trump get elected and the Republicans take control of the senate and figured there would never be a better time for him to reveal himself and make his move.
