The exterior images are all from the end of November. This is the one I saved from the last frames of the November Timelapse: (note the snow)
Outside of the new truman trio hotels, and the rumours of the site on Macleod and 12th, there are no proposals for the area around the new arena or plans for the saddledome land. Granted the Stampede has engaged Populous to create another master plan... not sure when we'll get the details on that though. And once the new bus barn is completed off Blackfoot the bus barn will be another empty lot. I worry the ease of parking revenues and a shrinking national population might affect the momentum of development in the immediate area.once there are no more big empty lots to fill up around here
Yah, even in an optimistic scenario with a good economy and steady but rational immigration...the Rivers is going to take 20+ years to fill out. When including the Saddledome and bus barn sites, it's going to take 16-20 individual projects to fill in the lands east of 4th...let alone if you extend the area to 1st st. We are 18 years since CMLC was created, and EV is probably only 60% completed. This all takes time for a city of 1.4MOutside of the new truman trio hotels, and the rumours of the site on Macleod and 12th, there are no proposals for the area around the new arena or plans for the saddledome land. I guess what I'm saying is we're a decade and a half (2040?) from seeing the fruits of the arena seed an actual measured change in the neighbourhood. By then, we'll have some kind of Grand Central, a Green Line, fewer parking lots but I do still think there will be some, it is just too easy to throw down some gravel and take in income on a parking lot you don't pay much property tax on.
On a positive note, the high-quality streetscape around the arena will be great and I do have hope for the next phase of Stampede Park. I'm just not optimistic about the timeline of developing the available land around the public infrastructure.

Meh, the bus barns with still in that area in mid/late 80's, so it wasnt until those left that redevelopment occured . With horrible design, they put a lot of faith in the Market driving a presence in that area (grocery/restaurants/entertainment)...it obviously didn't, and thus that area of downtown really suffers with foot traffic. We are now back at square one with the Market, along with those long vacant lots between 4th and 6th.the Eau Claire remediation was done in the 70s. 20yrs is prob v optimistic.
Personally I think EV has more going for it despite the DIC. It has the Bow River and it’s in the same side of the train tracks as downtown, having direct east - west connections into downtown via sixth Avenue and also by the pathway.Rivers has more going for it than Eau Claire of EV imo. Exisiting foot traffic with proper infrastructure and connections creates a significantly better investment climate.
Sounds about right. It'll be all built out just in time for CSEC to ask for a new arena......
Oh I wouldn't say that with regards to the concrete work, they till have significant amount of pouring to do. If you add up the event level, club/mezz, main, suite, upper, and press level concourses, they are probably only 50% complete at best. Not to mention the restaurants, offices, practice rink, parking garage, and then all the precast slabs (not pouring, but significant) for the stands,The temporary ramp on the south side should be coming out sometime this month as the loading dock is completed. They're currently working at completing the lower levels on the east side which will finish up the last of the major concrete work. The steel should then quickly go up from there. My guess is we'll have the main roof fully up by July, and the exterior is mostly done by fall, which leaves the interior and landscaping to be completed by fall 2027
