Its not a negative attitude its just what is msot likely, Im happy we are able to finally compete and be able to host these type of events, im just saying for the FIRST one why wouldnt they pick NYC, Chicago, Montreal, or Toronto as the NA city. Edmonton has a nice arena and wasnt considered for for nations either. Im sure in the 2030s we will host it, world juniors and other events. When we also have all the hotels built out
First one? It's the fourth. Well actually the 9th if you consider its beginnings.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Oilers simply declined the opportunity to host the world cup as they have in the past with the NHL All Star Game when they made the excuse that they want the area around their arena to be more developed first. CSEC going after this event only 7-8 months after opening shows they aren't worried about such stuff.

The 4 Nations was hosted in Boston and Montreal because of distance and they wanted minimal disruption to the NHL schedule, hence the extremely short tournament. It's much harder to host events in those big cities because Toronto has 1 arena, which has to host the Raptors, Leafs, concerts, and other events. Same with many of the other cities with multiple teams and events. They may have the semi-final/final in MSG or Scotiabank Arena, but Calgary gives much better flexibility for round robin and earlier games.

Especially with the Saddledome still around to put games in too. It’s like having two cities.

Money for demolition once the new arena is open is included as part of the arena deal.
Also ownership of the land itself is being swapped for the land Scotia Place is being built on. As a result ownership of the Saddledome will fall to the Stampede who will want it demolished right away so they don't have to pay any money maintaining it.
