minor, but atleast mildly bizarre phasing....why would they not delay stampede trail finishing until next fall when SP exterior will be "largely" contained enough to do the whole streetscape at once?

Probably because all the traffic from the north exit/entrance to Saddledome goes in and out on that street. Flames games start pretty soon.

Highly doubt they pick Calgary as the North American City to host the first World Cup of Hockey in forever, even with the nicest arena in the league by then

It is attitudes like this that stop events like this from coming here.

Do people realize we hosted an Olympics, in 1988 Calgary? Which is a far cry from the City we've become.

Too bad they're getting the World Juniors just before Scotia Place finishes. It'll be a nice send off for the Saddledome though.

"one of 25 venues". There's 32 teams and some have old arenas, but isn't this basically all viable arenas are being considered?
1 of 25 venues across NA and EU not 1 out of 25 NHL Arenas. Though I'm sure most are NHL arenas out of the 25

Its not a negative attitude its just what is msot likely, Im happy we are able to finally compete and be able to host these type of events, im just saying for the FIRST one why wouldnt they pick NYC, Chicago, Montreal, or Toronto as the NA city. Edmonton has a nice arena and wasnt considered for for nations either. Im sure in the 2030s we will host it, world juniors and other events. When we also have all the hotels built out

With all the stuff Edmonton hosts, why wouldn't Calgary get some high profile games? I would expect Montreal or Toronto to get these games, but to outright dismiss Calgary makes no sense to me.
