General Construction Updates

I was thinking the same thing with the pathways. If you don't have a paved option, I could see a dirt trail cutting across the park being used to get to the LRT station.

With or without the LRT, the direct walking connections around here should be prioritized - it's only 500m to the hospital and a variety of stuff along that Market Street that would take these blue lines. A similar direct connection should be to the high school and the recreation centre.

The only issue with this is there isn’t really access on the back of the block long condo buildings.
They have been designed with this nice future cut-through accesses. Perfect to connect too.

Forgot to post. The Eau-Claire market looks about ready to come down. Is there a BP in place for redevelopment? This area really needs some new retail to become a gathering spot. The public realm improvements are impressive and the pathways are always busy.

Nothing in place to replace it yet. IIRC Harvard sold the land back to the city, and until there is a solid plan for the green line it might sit for a while.

Retail isn't always the answer, something to do in some place interesting is probably the most important part. I did see if putting in a skating rink on the west end of downtown at River Hall (Olympic Plaza's skating rink is no more. Or at least until the plaza is redone, if it even includes rink...)

I remember when Eau Claire market first opened the place was bumping for a while. You could go to any of the restaurants after work and they were busy, the market and mall itself was busy all through the day, especially at lunch and after work. I don’t know what happened to them all but something sure fucked it up.

Could it have been because of the revitalization of the Core mall? Drawing a bunch of patrons away to a more central location...?
