I probably talk the most shit here about the overuse of spandrel, and about most Cidex projects. But I do really appreciate how good they are with the capital market and securing money to build market rentals. They are single-handedly keeping so many trades working in the downturn and are building a ton of rental units that are a net positive for the City.

But, their buildings do look like absolute dogshit, they really need to use architects/development managers that care about good design and just use decent, more permanent materials. The value engineering borders on offensive on some Cidex projects.

They have scaffolding up around most of the first 5 levels at the tower so hope that's a sign that glazing and cladding is soon.

So does it become sort of a catch 22 (not sure if that is the right phrase)? Because the delays are costing so much, they have to cut even more corners, so we get worse glass?

The Pearl was topped out by the time the glass arrived.

Yeah, for about a year IIRC. This one will likely be topped out for a while before we see any glass.

First bits of exterior cladding up. Not the window/sprandel, but some of the podium. They're using beige metal composite.

Kind of disappointed by the colour of that first panel, thought it's supposed to be a bit randomized (Unless they VE'd the design to death...) so it could still look good.

My worry is that if it’s randomized it will look like the Torode project in Inglewood. The panels look pretty large so I think it’ll be better than the Torode project at least.

The biggest problem with the Torode one in Inglewood is the easy trim they used with the panels, it's already busy and that just makes it worse.

Yeah the easy trim emphasizes those small panels too. That building is just a giant fail all together, hopefully the trees in front grow really well and mask it a bit lol.
