Calgary's most exciting high-rise project, TELUS Sky continues to move closer to completion, as recent photos have now given us a sneak peek of the west side atrium lobby. The plans for the west side lobby have always included an open atrium style section with a green wall and sections of open staircases, and now the vision is coming to life - both figuratively and literally.

Designed by Denmark based Bjarke Ingels Group along with Canadian based architects, DIALOG, the 60 floor mixed use tower has been highly anticipated since its original unveiling. The tower's general shape has been very highly regarded, and recently tests of the building's exterior lighting feature were also very well received. As the project has progressed most people - from architecture fans to the casual passerby - have marveled at the building's design, and lighting, however the interior is one aspect rarely seen until recently.

The general consensus on the TELUS Sky forum thread is that the lobby has lived up to, or even exceeded expectations. Photos show a brightly lit atrium area with white paneling on the west side wall. Some of the panels have curved wells that rise vertically up the wall in various sections, with those wells to be used for plant life that will eventually form the green wall. Some of the plant life has already been installed, and the organic green tones against the bright white panels make for a striking appearance.

Photos also show the lobby area fronting onto 7th avenue to a be bright open space with a wood styled paneling on the ceiling providing a feeling of warmth. Overall this exciting project is living up to its lofty expectations.
