A couple of weeks back we reported on TELUS Sky's progress and how it was nearing completion, and now there's more news to report regarding one of Calgary's most talked about projects. Recent photos by various photographers show LED lighting tests have started once again.
Designed by Danish firm B.I.G. in conjunction with Dialog, the 60 storey mixed use tower will feature an LED light art installation as part of its design. Created by Canadian artist Douglas Coupland, TELUS Sky itself will be the art feature as LED light fixtures built into exterior window frames will be programmed to show various patterns of light, resulting in Calgary's largest piece of public art.
The lighting tests this past week revealed more of the lighting fixtures than in previous testing as the exterior finish is now mostly complete. The tests also showed lighting patterns on the north side of the building - something that hadn't been seen before.
Lighting on the building can be seen as far away as the International Airport, and is sure to be noticeable eye catching sight to most everyone in the city once it's complete and displaying on a regular basis.
