A month since our last update, and progress at Greenview Developments' AVLI on Atlantic has moved ahead significantly. With the hoarding now removed, and the last of the decorative metallic paneling in place, passersby are now able to view an essentially complete finished product.
The metallic finish appears to serve the structure reasonably well, the decorative touch offering a nice counterbalance to the otherwise white spandrel exterior. Gracing the bottom two floors, including the retail bays and rear units/parking access, the metal shingles (for lack of a better descriptor) give an almost fish-like vibe to the podium and flank.
Writ large the effect is quite striking, the metal accents forming a significant part of the Sturgess Architecture-designed structure's overall character. Comprised of 6 floors or residential space perched atop a single storey of street-facing retail, AVLI on Atlantic will be a fine addition to the 9 Ave SE corridor.
Soon to be home to upwards of 100 residents spread across 64 units, the mixed-use development will bring dozens of new faces to Inglewood. Bold, modern, and designed with a solid mix of form and function, AVLI on Atlantic will no doubt be a popular address for years to come.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
