It's been a couple of months since we last checked in on The Underwood, a 31-storey residential tower development by Western Securities. Back then the tower was topped out and the exterior was complete, but there was still plenty of interior work to be done, and the base of building was surrounded by a construction fence.
There have been some big changes since then, as just recently the fencing has come down, and the podium has been opened up to its surroundings. Also, a neighboring park section just to the west of the building, which was torn up during construction, has been restored. Furthermore, The Underwood's website is advertising available suites for rent, as move-ins are expected to take place soon.
Aside from construction finishing up, plans have also been recently unveiled for the First Street Market, a mixed-use retail space in the building's podium which consists of a licensed food hall with up to 10 vendors, along with a 50-seat patio backing on to Hultain Park.
SkyriseCalgary will continue to follow this project and others around the city of Calgary. For more information on this project, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
