Four months since we last checked in at Underwood Tower, and the project has now entered into its final phase ahead of its move-in date of July, 2019. While finishing touches are being applied, the official website has gone live, offering a list of rental prices ($1600-$3000) spanning the full range of its residential offerings.

Located along the famous historic Underwood Block - or what's left of it - the 31-storey Underwood Tower by Western Securities and Zeidler BKDI Architects is the second to claim a stake on this prime block since the completion of the neighbouring, 2009-built, Union Square development. At long last, a continuous wall of street-facing retail and restaurant space will finally grace the entirety of the block, thereby providing a much-improved pedestrian experience.

Roughly 200 residents will soon call Underwood Tower home, bringing a great deal of urban vibrancy to the eastern edge of the Beltline. Bordering Central Memorial Park, Underwood Tower Union Square will together, along with a host of other recent builds in the vicinity, greatly change the local character of the park, adding a much more overtly urban vibe to this well-known corner of the city.

Viewed from afar, Underwood Tower (right) has served to help further fill in the Beltline/downtown skyline, its presence now part of the ongoing transformation of the core.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
