Only a few weeks since our last update, and M2 Block has received its first touch of grey as cladding officially begins. Visible for the second time since a handful of test panels appeared on-site a few months ago, the return of M2 Block's battleship grey exterior paneling appears to be a permanent fixture.

The distinctive M2 Block by XYC Design + Development and nArchitects, to be clad in a steely grey exterior punctuated only by solid rows of glazing, will have three separate uses spread across its four layers - or floors. Arranged thus in a lop-sided, layer cake format, M2 Block's first floor will be dedicated to retail, with floors two and three reserved for office space, thereby leaving the fourth floor to remain as a luxury penthouse suite.

Situated along the banks of the Bow River in East Village, the metallic grey exterior of the development ought to resonate well against Calgary's famously  blue skies and the reflections off the water. Fitting a lot into a small, aesthetically interesting package, M2 Block is primed to become an excellent addition to one of Calgary's most exciting new neighbourhoods.

The combination of retail, commercial, and luxury residential space will serve the area well, East Village as of yet still lacking in a handful of key land uses and property types.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
