3001 - 14th Street dubbed, Spider Site, by its developer Certus Developments Inc has been making significant progress from when we last reported on it. Since that time, the site has been cleared, and excavated, and has seen its fair share of concrete and structural work. The project is now well above grade. Construction crews are currently working on the third floor of the building, leaving only one more to go before it gets topped out.

The 4-storey, McKinley Burkart-designed, structure will be mixed-use with retail space on the main level and medical offices on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. The main level retail is designed to accommodate a pharmacy, which would match up well with the medical offices located above, as well as a restaurant which would fit in nicely along the 14th street retail corridor.

The name 'Spider Site' is a unique name that will no doubt catch people's attention. For those curious about the name, it comes from the auto shop previously at that site. The front corner of the business featured a large mechanical steel spider with Volkswagen Beetle frame. The spider was relocated to the roof of a Starbucks' down the street just before construction began on this project.
