Two months since our last update, and progress at the site of the all but complete Verve in East Village has been moving along slowly but surely. Structurally complete back in July save for the ground floor retail space, recent photos highlight the fact that tenants are yet to take possession, the spaces still in need of their respective finishing touches.

The 25-storey, 288-unit Verve was designed by Giannone Petricone Associates for Fram+Stoker, its two distinct volumes sat atop a shared podium base, with retail units facing onto the street. A truly mixed-use building, the majority of condo units have been paired with a handful of live-work units, which in turn have been placed atop a healthy variety of retail options that will serve tenants and the broader East Village community.

According to the collective wisdom of our Forum, retail tenants to-date include Good Earth, Panago Pizza, Barber Culture, Hart Healthy Foods, and a medical office, with more to come. Located at 5 St SW and 6 Ave SW, just steps away from the RiverWalk path along the Bow River, the addition of several food and retail options may help entice more pedestrian overflow from nearby riverside strollers.

Verve has already become a staple figure of the East Village skyline, the development to soon deliver upwards of 400 new residents into the neighbourhood. Once complete, Verve will be a welcome addition, the inclusion of live-work units and retail options to help integrate it into the community.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
